Shawenim Abinoojii Education Programs are created to provide alternative educational programming for the children and youth affiliated with Shawenim Abinoojii, serving the Southeast Region communities. Our programs provide social, cultural and academic support in a safe and nurturing environment.
The Shawenim Abinoojii School (Alternative High School and Mature Student Program), located at the Neeginan Centre, students continue their education at their own pace. Students can start at any level and earn the credits needed to return to their school of choice or graduate from Shawenim Abinoojii School with their provincial diploma.
The Education Resource Centre, located in St Genevieve, Mb ( near Ste Ann, Mb) was created to work with students that live in our homes in the area. This center operates in partnership with Seine River School Division and provides programming for students in grades K to 8. Students in grades 9 through 12 are supported through modules and affiliated with the Shawenim Abinoojii School in Winnipeg (off-site)
Shawenim Abinoojii School also provides literacy and numeracy extension in the communities of the Southeast Region including Berens River, Black River, Bloodvein, Brokenhead, Hollow Water, Little Grand Rapids, Pauingassi and Poplar River. Though the pandemic has affected community delivery, we are providing reading and numeracy kits and resources to support our homes and families in these communities.
